WORKSHOP: DEFORMATION AND FLUIDS WITHIN THE UPPER 50 KM OF THE SUBDUCTION THRUST INTERFACE

Workshop - 20-22 novembre

Nei giorni 20-22 Novembre, presso il Centro Congressi “Le Benedettine” a Pisa, si svolgerà un worshop internazionale dal titolo "Deformation and fluids within the upper 50 km of the subduction thrust interface”

Il workshop è organizzato da Francesca Meneghini del DST , Philippe Agard (Université de la Sorbonne, Paris), Hughes Raimbourg (Université Orléans) e Ake Fagereng (Cardiff University), ed è parzialmente finanziato dai fondi BIHOdell’Università di Pisa.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

Discuss the nature of the plate interface from seismogenic depths to the transition to aseismic slip in the plastic regime.

Match geophysically observed modes of plate interface deformation (from earthquakes to aseismic slip, including slow slip, LFE and VLFE, non-volcanic tremors etc…) with geological structures/processes.

Describe the relationships between mechanics and mineral reactions/fluid transfers.

Decipher rates of processes (strain, fluid transfer, reaction) on various geological structures.

Combine field observations with the insights from experiments, modelling, geophysics and geochemistry, towards an integrated vision of the subduction interface.

Describe the variety of geological settings (kinematics/subduction boundary conditions, nature and structure/thermal field of incoming material/upper plate) of subducted and exhumed rocks; decipher their respective influence on subduction dynamics
