WORKING STUDENTS AND PARENTS
Articles 23, paragraph 9, and 27 of the University Teaching Regulations govern the status of parents (with children under the age of eight), students on maternity leave, and working students.
In addition to the regular exam sessions, working students, parents, and students on maternity leave may take advantage of two special exam sessions, which may also overlap with periods designated for classroom or laboratory teaching activities (Article 23, paragraph 9, University Teaching Regulations).
Teachers must agree with the working student (and parent) on office hours and procedures, even outside of those established for regular students (Article 27, paragraph 5, University Teaching Regulations).
To be recognized as a "student parent" or "student worker," a self-certification and a copy of an identification document must be submitted to the Teaching Unit of the DST.
The requirements for worker/parent status, the deadlines and procedures for submitting documentation, and the self-certification form to be completed can be found at this link.

STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
Article 31 of the University Teaching Regulations stipulates that for the categories of students referred to in Law No. 104/1992 and subsequent amendments, university facilities offer specific guidance, specialized tutoring, and support services for all teaching-related activities.
In particular, please note that the University has a dedicated office for students with disabilities. This office is responsible for removing obstacles that stand between students with disabilities and university life, seeking to improve their ability to actively participate in all its activities and facilities (USID, Office for Services for Students with Disabilities, https://www.unipi.it/index.php/usid). This office can be contacted at usid@unipi.it.
The University of Pisa offers a dedicated helpdesk for students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD, DSA in Italian). This service offers a variety of services, including mediation with instructors for exams, specific tutoring (writing notes, recording lectures), individual meetings, and assistance with diagnosis and certification. Students requesting exam aids should send their request to dsa@adm.unipi.it, specifying the exam type, date, course instructor, and requested aids.
Each department has a dedicated faculty member who handles issues related to services for people with disabilities. For the Department of Earth Sciences, this contact is Professor Elena Bonaccorsi at elena.bonaccorsi@unipi.it.
Students with disabilities, disabilities, or SLDs may access the special exam sessions referred to in Article 23, paragraph 9, of the University Educational Regulations.

This involves a curriculum spanning a number of years beyond the standard duration of the program and requires payment of only 60% of the tuition fees, in addition to the regional tax. Part-time status is maintained for two years and may be renewed. Part-time enrollment requires a maximum of 36 credits (ECTS) in the first year and a maximum of 60 credits (ECTS) in the two academic years.
All information, including application deadlines and procedures, is available on the University website at https://www.unipi.it/index.php/tasse-e-diritto-allo-studio/item/9990-studente-a-tempo-parziale. For assistance, please contact the DST Teaching Unit.
