Career Path/job opportunities after Graduation

Consultations with representatives of the Uzbek government and individual UGS institutes have identified a professional profile that meets the needs of the Central Asian labor market.

  • Interest is for a professional with knowledge in the fields of geomaterials exploration for industry, energy and underground water resources (geological, geochemical, and geophysical exploration for georesources)
  • environmental protection and geohazard mitigation strategies

This position is particularly urgent in Uzbekistan given economic development programs, and is also of interest to other regions of Central Asia and, more generally, to international companies engaged in energy and mineral exploration and water exploration.

The two curricula offered by the BSc in Geology (Solid Earth, Environmental Geology) both address the specific needs of the job market.

In addition to industries and public and private companies operating in the georesources and environmental risk protection sectors, graduates in this field can find employment in companies developing civil engineering projects, such as construction of buildings and infrastructure projects.
Given the complexity of stakeholder relationships in Uzbekistan, and in Central Asia in general, the BSc has established a UNIPI-UGS Branch Managing Committee (University of Pisa- University of Geological Science, Uzbekistan - Ministry of Mining, Industry and Geology, Uzbekistan). The Managing Committee's duties include consolidating and developing relationships with the Uzbek industrial community, not only to provide ongoing updates on the post-graduate employment landscape, but also to promote internships and internships aligned with the specific needs of private and state-owned companies operating in the geosciences and environmental fields.
