Earth science researcher with particular interest in geochemistry, petrology and volcanology, currently working on the recent magmatism of the Afar depression in Ethiopia. Passionate about the mechanisms of magma genesis, storage and transport in relation to their geodynamic context.
I started my research studying the marginal volcanism of the Afar depression, investigating its evolution and its relation with the axial rift segments while now, during my PhD, I’m working on the recent magmatic formations in central Afar (<4 Ma). By means of field observations, analytic and micro-analytic analysis and dating the aim of my research is to characterize in time and space the mantle source, the magmatic processes and the plumbing system architecture of this formations. By integrating the results with studies of other disciplines the main goal is to reconstruct the spatial and temporal evolution of the magmatism in relation the geodynamic contest of the on-going rifting in Afar.
M.Sc Thesis: The Ma’alalta volcano and its relation with the rift magmatic segments in Afar: A petrological, volcanological, geochemical and seismic approach
PhD Thesis: Geochemistry and petrology to understand the evolution of the Stratoids and younger volcanism in Afar
